Minogue Declines Governor’s Salary, Signaling a New Kind of Governor and Leadership for Massachusetts

HAMILTON, Mass. – Mike Minogue, husband, father of five, decorated combat veteran, and 19-year public CEO, today announced that he will decline the governor’s salary. This decision reflects his broader focus on affordability and his commitment to a governor’s office grounded in accountability, opportunity, and keeping communities safe.

“Massachusetts has an affordability and accountability problem,” said Mike Minogue. “Families are cutting back while political elites keep spending without discipline. I have spent my life giving back to the community, especially in education, healthcare, and veterans’ causes, and declining the governor’s salary is another way to reflect those values.”

“As a new kind of governor, I will work to make Massachusetts competitive and affordable again,” Minogue continued. “Getting government costs under control will take discipline and focus, the same approach I’ve used my entire career. I’ll bring that standard to state government. As a new kind of governor, taxpayers will have a leader focused on affordability, accountability, opportunity, and keeping communities safe.”

Minogue’s campaign confirmed he will also decline any additional allowances or benefits tied to the office. He says restoring competitiveness and driving down costs will take disciplined leadership that puts taxpayers first.

Minogue, a longtime Massachusetts business leader and community advocate, entered the Republican primary in October.
