Minogue Calls for Accountability Following SNAP Fraud Charges

Minogue Calls for Accountability Following SNAP Fraud Charges

HAMILTON, Mass. — As federal prosecutors announce new charges tied to the misuse of SNAP benefits, renewing scrutiny on how taxpayer-funded programs are overseen in Massachusetts, Mike Minogue released the following statement:

“Massachusetts receives roughly $3 billion a year in federal SNAP funding, and cases like this raise serious concerns about how well those dollars are being protected.

What makes this even more troubling is that the Governor is now risking SNAP benefits altogether by refusing to provide required identification and benefit data. We need to eliminate waste and fraud in Massachusetts and America. Transparency protects the integrity of the program and the people who truly rely on it. Avoiding oversight risks the program itself.

Massachusetts families are already struggling with affordability. Allowing waste and fraud to persist puts essential assistance at risk and undermines public trust. When I’m governor, I will focus on eliminating waste, upholding the law, and protecting programs like SNAP so they can continue serving families with integrity in Massachusetts and across America.”
