Mike Minogue calls for debate in Western Massachusetts

HAMILTON, Mass. — MassGOP and RNC endorsed candidate for governor, Mike Minogue, today called for at least one televised debate with Maura Healey in Western Massachusetts. Minogue says the concentration of debates in Greater Boston reflects a broader pattern of leaders neglecting the region.

For decades, the focus of debates has centered on the Boston area, even as residents of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties continue to face unique challenges related to healthcare, transportation, economic development, and infrastructure.

“The concerns of voters in Western Massachusetts deserve to be heard. Chief among them is ensuring access to the same high-quality healthcare and nearby medical facilities that residents of Greater Boston enjoy. Western Massachusetts also presents a tremendous opportunity to expand manufacturing, create good-paying jobs, and strengthen the ‘Made in Massachusetts’ brand to drive economic growth across the Commonwealth,” said Minogue. “Voters also deserve the opportunity to make an informed choice by hearing candidates present their solutions side by side on the issues that matter most to the region.”

Minogue urges Governor Maura Healey and media organizations to commit to hosting at least one debate in Western Massachusetts before Election Day.
